⛄️ Hello, friends!
Happy January, and I hope you had a nice holiday season. We enjoyed relaxing times at home, several gatherings with friends, and two family celebrations.
Now that it's the start of a new year, I'm regrouping and setting some fresh goals for 2026.
Nothing drastic. Just reasonable, intentional changes, like paying off my credit card balance and saving more money in the year ahead.
Which brings me to something many of you have asked about over the years…
The January Money Diet is back!
For those of you who are newer around here, the January Money Diet was something we did together at Happy Simple Living for 12 years. Every January, we took a 30-day break from spending on anything but true essentials.
It was our way of starting the year financially strong, and it became a tradition I truly loved.
Until the pandemic arrived, that is, and changed everything.
As I watched so many small businesses and local restaurants struggle and close, I no longer felt quite right advocating for a strict no-spend month.
So I quietly put the January Money Diet to rest for a few years.
But every January, without fail, readers would ask: “Are we doing it again?”
This year, finally, the answer is yes—but with a more individual approach.
I’ll be sharing a series of money-saving tips and challenges throughout January.
These strategies are designed to help create meaningful change, without stringent mandates.
Feel free to participate as much as you like!
Along the way, we’ll share our money wins, talk honestly about what’s hard, and cheer each other on.
If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, I’d love for you to join us! As always, participation is free.

Then, if you like, head over to our Facebook page and introduce yourself on the January Money Diet post. I’ll be there, too.
Here’s to a calmer, richer, more intentional start to the new year!
Warmly,
