Hello friend,
These past few weeks have felt heavy for a lot of us. Between the constant stream of difficult news and cold, icy weather across much of the country, it's easy to feel worn down.
When the world feels dark, I find myself returning to the small, simple things that bring light into everyday life.
The quiet, steady rhythms of nature: The birds gathered at the backyard feeder, the familiar sound of geese flying overhead, and the changing light throughout the day remind me that the seasons move forward, as they always have.
Warmth at home: A simmering pot of soup or chili, bread baking in the oven, or a mug of tea can soften the edges of hard days.
Getting outside, even for a short time, for fresh air and natural light.
Bringing in the light: Pulling the window blinds all the way open during the day, lighting candles in the evening, and building a fire in the fireplace can help warm the short days of winter.
Savoring time with the people we love: A shared meal, a long conversation, a phone call, or just being together in comfortable silence. These precious moments matter so much.
May we all find ways to bring warmth, light and kindness into this time.
Please take good care of yourself, and know that you’re always welcome here.
Warmly,
